Myritta Hitchcock

At Hotel-Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, May 1, 2018, Mrs. Myritta Hitchcock of Ortonville passed away at the age of 82 years.  She was the widow of Sheldon Hitchcock.  Born at Tilley in 1936, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Hazel (Sullivan) St. Peter.

A loving Wife to her late husband Sheldon Hitchcock, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin. Myritta was an excellent cook and her homemade treats were enjoyed by all. She could hem a pair of pants or sew beautiful curtains at a moments notice. Spending time with family was important to her. She enjoyed getting together with her sister’s and brother for a game or two of cards, or just to visit. She lived the largest part of her life in Ortonville with her husband and children, and loved and cared for her home.

Myritta had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Over the years she faithfully attended weekly services, and assisted in organizing many fundraising bake sales and yard sales in the church basement to raise money to keep the church heated in the winter months.

She is survived by six children, Wanda McLaughlin (Gilles Laforest) of Morrell Siding, Wilfred (Annette Baker) and Elaine Hitchcock-Boone (Ricky) of Perth-Andover, Vincent (Iris Longstaff) of Upper Knoxford, Penny (Peter Martin) of Morrell Siding and Cory (Mary Ann) of Four Falls, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one brother, Harold St. Peter (Ila Jean) of Morrell Siding, Doreen Bowmaster (late Herman), Vella Bowmaster (late Vaughn) and Dorothy Morrell (Earlen) of Morrell Siding, Joyce St. Peter (Germaine Powers) of Grand Falls and Lois Baker (late Hollis) of Victoria Glen Manor, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Leitha Williams, Ida Crawford and Hilda Bowmaster-Wardwell and one brother, Leylon St. Peter (Judy).

Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 4th at 11 a.m. with Father Stephen Harnish officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Limestone Siding.

For those who wish, donations to St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.
